Lithium batteries for Alicante go from northern Jiangsu through Lianyungang on the Yellow Sea. On the way they face a Suez corridor that Mediterranean services are using again more than any other Asia–Europe lane, and they arrive at the port of Alicante.
The Spanish side checks RII-PYA registration alongside the EU battery rules. The 5 points below are particular to this lane; each comes with what we do and the paperwork it touches.
What we need to start
Route profile
Mediterranean services are the ones most likely to use Suez again (57% in September 2026), which puts the cargo back through Bab el-Mandeb, rated a SUBSTANTIAL threat.
RII-PYA registration with its number on every invoice, quarterly market data including batteries inside equipment, and the EU-wide CE and label duties.

Where this route gets difficult
Listed from loading in Lianyungang to import into Spain, each with what we do about it.
The China Meteorological Administration describes sea fog as a major marine hazard in the Yellow and Bohai Seas, mainly from April to July. At Lianyungang, as at Qingdao, fog can hold vessels at anchor, and a changed vessel means amended DG filings.
What Anxin does: In fog season we keep slack between stuffing and the DG cut-off and have the filing data ready to amend.
Asia–Mediterranean services used the Red Sea 57% of the time in September 2026 according to Sea-Intelligence, compared with 27% for North Europe, so a box for Alicante most probably goes via Suez and through Bab el-Mandeb. The JMIC rated that strait SUBSTANTIAL on 24 September 2026; the Houthis call their blockade selective and now hold Perim Island in the channel.
What Anxin does: We ask the carrier which routing its service to Alicante uses and name it on the quote, together with any war-risk or emergency surcharge.
For Alicante, EU security pre-filing happens at the other end of the voyage: the ICS2 entry summary must reach the system 24 hours before the container is loaded in Lianyungang. No filing means no loading, and a missing EORI number is enough to reject it.
What Anxin does: We collect the consignee's EORI number, an HS-level goods description and the house-bill parties at booking, and make sure the party filing the ENS has them before the Lianyungang cut-off.
The Spanish register covers batteries built into electrical equipment as well as loose cells, removable or not. Quantities are declared per quarter; mistakes can be corrected until 25 January of the next year, and any change in registration data must be updated within a month.
What Anxin does: When batteries travel inside devices we list battery quantity and chemistry separately on the packing list, so the importer can report them without reopening cartons.
For portable batteries, Annex I sets maximum levels of 0.0005 % mercury, 0.002 % cadmium and 0.01 % lead by weight, the lead limit applying since 18 August 2024. The importer in Spain may be asked by market surveillance to demonstrate compliance.
What Anxin does: We ask the manufacturer for its substance declaration or test report reference and file it with the shipping documents for the Spain importer; we do not test batteries.

Documents & compliance
Anxin reviews documents supplied by the shipper, manufacturer and importer; it does not issue test reports, safety data sheets or import certificates.

We line up UN numbers, model names and package counts across the Lianyungang filings, the booking with the carrier and the documents for Spain before the booking is confirmed, so that a mismatch is fixed at origin rather than discovered at Alicante.
Carriers we book with
Our booking panel; availability on this lane and acceptance of the declared UN numbers are confirmed for each booking. It does not mean that a listed carrier runs a direct service on this route. Carrier choice depends on the trade lane, cargo classification and each carrier's dangerous-goods acceptance at booking. The final carrier is confirmed on the booking.

Questions
The importer, as producer, in the RII-PYA register. A collective scheme may register it on its behalf; otherwise registration is online with an electronic signature or Cl@ve. The registration number must appear on invoices.
Often: in September 2026, 57% of Asia–Mediterranean services used the Red Sea routing. Bab el-Mandeb was rated a SUBSTANTIAL threat by the JMIC on 24 September 2026, so we confirm each service's routing before booking.
Its June 2025 break-bulk ESS guide recommends 20–50% remaining charge, with converters and monitoring off and circuits disconnected.
