This route runs out of Shenzhen's Yantian and Shekou terminals, then follows an Arabian Sea passage where GNSS interference is reported off the Gulf of Oman; at the far end is Salalah, where cargo details go to the port 72 hours ahead and damaged DG boxes stay on board.

Oman's customs single window, Bayan, has required the manifest 36 hours before arrival since May 2026. The 6 points below are particular to this lane; each comes with what we do and the paperwork it touches.

What we need to start

  • Yantian / Shekou export
  • Typhoon season Jun–Oct
  • Written DG approval (Port of Salalah)
  • DG manifest 24 h before arrival
  • Manifest in Bayan 36 h before arrival

Route profile

What sets Shenzhen → Salalah apart

Origin port

Shenzhen (Yantian / Shekou)

Pearl River Delta battery cargo, often stuffed at factories in Dongguan or Huizhou, exported through Yantian or Shekou, with a typhoon season from June to October.

Sea corridor

Asia – Arabian Sea & the Gulf

An Arabian Sea passage and, for Gulf ports, the Strait of Hormuz, rated a SEVERE threat in September 2026, with GNSS jamming across the approaches.

Where this route gets difficult

What to watch between Shenzhen and Salalah: 6 points

They run from the Shenzhen terminal through the voyage to Salalah and the Oman import file.

  1. Origin port

Packaging certificates are now visible to both customs and MSA

Much of Shenzhen's battery cargo is made in Dongguan, home to more than 500 battery firms. In September 2026 Dongguan Customs and Dongguan MSA began sharing dangerous-goods packaging certificate data, described as a first in China, and committed to joint action against concealed and false declarations. The one-box route to Yantian, which had moved 409 containers by then, rests on that same record.

What Anxin does: We compare the packaging certificate with the MSA cargo report (UN number, packaging code, number of packages) before either goes in, so the shared data shows no gap.

  2. Origin port

Inspected in Dongguan, loaded unopened at Yantian

A large share of Shenzhen's battery exports is stuffed inland and trucked to the quay. In a May 2026 cross-regional 'one-box' pilot, Yantian MSA and Dongguan MSA jointly inspected four battery containers at a Dongguan factory and loaded them at Yantian without reopening them, which shows that the factory inspection record is what counts at the terminal.

What Anxin does: We ask at booking whether your factory and the terminal's MSA office can use the one-box arrangement, and we have stuffing photos, the packing certificate and the DG declaration match exactly, so the container is not held for re-inspection.

  3. Sea corridor

Southwest monsoon on the Arabian Sea, June to September

India's southwest monsoon runs from June to September, bringing rough seas and squally weather to the Arabian Sea that regularly disrupt port operations along the route.

What Anxin does: For June–September sailings we check blocking and bracing strictly on stuffing photos and allow for schedule slippage in the delivery plan.

  4. Destination port

Prior written approval, and the manifest 24 hours ahead

Salalah's port rules forbid bringing dangerous goods in without prior written approval from the Port Authority and the government authorities concerned, and some may only be discharged for direct delivery. The line sends the dangerous cargo manifest to terminal planning at least 24 hours before arrival, after the 72-hour cargo notice to the Port Authority.

What Anxin does: We give the carrier final DG data at booking, so the approval request and the 24-hour manifest for Salalah are based on what is actually in the box.

  5. Import country

    Bayan e-manifest: 36 hours ahead

Oman moved manifest filing forward in May 2026: shipping agents must lodge it in Bayan 36 hours before arrival at Salalah, with legal measures threatened for late filing, so the class 9 details have to be right from booking.

What Anxin does: We give the carrier the UN number, class, packages and weights at booking so the Bayan manifest for Salalah is not waiting on our data.

  6. Import country

Labels before the goods reach the market

Oman allows imported goods to be labelled after customs clearance, but the labelling must be complete before they enter the Omani market. Relabelling battery cartons in a warehouse in Oman is possible, but it adds handling of dangerous goods after discharge.

What Anxin does: We ask the importer what market labelling it needs and, where possible, have it applied in the factory in China rather than after arrival.

Documents & compliance

Checklist for Shenzhen → Salalah

These documents come from the shipper, the manufacturer and the importer. Anxin checks them against each other; it does not issue test reports, safety data sheets or import certificates.

At the Shenzhen end

  • Confirmation from the carrier of the DG cut-off at Yantian or Shekou, rechecked in typhoon weeks
  • Container packing certificate signed by a certified packing inspector after supervised stuffing
  • Transport-condition classification report where applicable
  • Load plan showing even weight distribution (no more than 60% of the cargo weight in either half of the container length)
  • Stuffing and securing photos showing undamaged packages

Carrier and voyage

  • Final DG data for the written approval and the 24-hour DG manifest
  • Condition statement: new, used, damaged/defective (SP376) or for recycling (SP377)
  • UN number, class, packages and weights for the Bayan manifest (36 h before arrival)

At the Oman end

  • Market labelling agreed with the importer before production

Match the details first

We line up UN numbers, model names and package counts across the Shenzhen filings, the booking with the carrier and the documents for Oman before the booking is confirmed, so that a mismatch is fixed at origin rather than discovered at Salalah.

Carriers we book with

Our booking panel; availability on this lane and acceptance of the declared UN numbers are confirmed for each booking. It does not mean that a listed carrier runs a direct service on this route. Carrier choice depends on the trade lane, cargo classification and each carrier's dangerous-goods acceptance at booking. The final carrier is confirmed on the booking.

Questions

Common questions on the Shenzhen → Salalah route

Electronically in Bayan at least 36 hours before the vessel arrives, a rule in force since 3 May 2026.

Between June and September India's southwest monsoon brings rough seas and squalls to the Arabian Sea that regularly disrupt port operations, so we check blocking and bracing on the stuffing photos and allow slack in the delivery plan.

Since September 2026 Dongguan Customs and Dongguan MSA share dangerous-goods packaging certificate data and act jointly against false declarations, so the packaging certificate and the MSA filing should match exactly.
