Lithium batteries for Stockholm go from Dongguan and Shenzhen factories via Yantian, where the one-box route had moved 409 battery containers by September 2026. On the way they face a Suez-or-Cape voyage that ends with the Danish straits and the Baltic, and they arrive at the port of Stockholm.

The Swedish side adds the Naturvårdsverket register to the EU battery rules. Below are 5 route-specific points to plan for, what we do about each, and the documents to have ready before booking.

What we need to start

  • Typhoon season Jun–Oct
  • Yantian / Shekou export
  • Swedish-language safety information
  • Consignee EORI
  • EU declaration of conformity

Route profile

The Shenzhen → Stockholm route in brief

Origin port

Shenzhen (Yantian / Shekou)

Pearl River Delta battery cargo, often stuffed at factories in Dongguan or Huizhou, exported through Yantian or Shekou, with a typhoon season from June to October.

Import country

Sweden

Registration with Naturvårdsverket since January 2026 under Ordinance 2025:813, and the EU-wide battery and ICS2 duties.

Where this route gets difficult

What to watch between Shenzhen and Stockholm: 5 points

In the order the cargo meets them: at the loading port, at sea, at Stockholm and at customs in Sweden.

  1. Origin port

Packaging certificates are now visible to both customs and MSA

Much of Shenzhen's battery cargo is made in Dongguan, home to more than 500 battery firms. In September 2026 Dongguan Customs and Dongguan MSA began sharing dangerous-goods packaging certificate data, described as a first in China, and committed to joint action against concealed and false declarations. The one-box route to Yantian, which had moved 409 containers by then, rests on that same record.

What Anxin does: We compare the packaging certificate with the MSA cargo report (UN number, packaging code, number of packages) before either goes in, so the shared data shows no gap.

  2. Sea corridor

Suez or Cape before the Baltic even starts

Before the Danish straits, the voyage from Asia is the same as for North Europe: Sea-Intelligence data for September 2026 put Red Sea routing at 27% for North Europe services, so most boxes still go round the Cape of Good Hope, where SAMSA estimates about 35% of 2024's lost containers went overboard.

What Anxin does: We quote the Suez and Cape routings separately when both are offered and apply the CINS stuffing checks strictly on Cape sailings.

  3. Import country

Safety documentation for stationary storage systems

Since 18 August 2024 a stationary battery energy storage system placed on the EU market must be safe in normal operation, and its technical documentation must show testing against the Annex V safety parameters, from thermal shock and short-circuit protection to over-discharge and thermal propagation. Buyers of ESS cabinets in Sweden increasingly ask for that file before delivery.

What Anxin does: For ESS cabinets and racks bound for Sweden we ask the manufacturer to confirm that the Annex V test documentation exists before booking and note the answer in the shipment file.

  4. Import country

    Naturvårdsverket registration since January 2026

Sweden's supplementary ordinance to the Battery Regulation (SFS 2025:813) has required battery producers to be registered with Naturvårdsverket since 1 January 2026. A producer responsibility organisation such as El-Kretsen can help with the filing, but the data remain the producer's responsibility.

What Anxin does: We ask the Swedish importer to confirm the registration is in place before booking, and pass on battery chemistry and weight data it may need for reporting.

  5. Import country

CE marking and a declaration of conformity in the right language

Since 18 August 2024 a battery sold in the EU needs the CE marking and an EU declaration of conformity from its manufacturer. The declaration has to be available in the language Sweden requires, and the importer is the one who must check both before the goods are released for sale.

What Anxin does: We ask the manufacturer in China for the declaration of conformity and a photo of the CE marking on the battery or its packaging before loading, and pass them to the Sweden importer. We check that the documents exist and match the goods; we do not assess conformity.

Documents & compliance

What to have ready: Shenzhen to Stockholm

Test reports, safety data sheets and import certificates come from the shipper, factory and importer, not from Anxin; our part is to review them before booking.

Before loading in Shenzhen

  • Confirmation from the carrier of the DG cut-off at Yantian or Shekou, rechecked in typhoon weeks
  • Customs packaging use-appraisal result for the dangerous goods packaging (with the maker's performance appraisal)
  • Container packing certificate signed by a certified packing inspector after supervised stuffing
  • Transport-condition classification report where applicable
  • Load plan showing even weight distribution (no more than 60% of the cargo weight in either half of the container length)

For the shipping line

  • Transhipment port, feeder operator and feeder DG acceptance named on the booking
  • Dangerous goods declaration with UN number (3480 / 3481 / 3090 / 3091), proper shipping name and packing instruction (P903, or P908/P911 for damaged)
  • Lithium battery mark (SP188 cargo) or class 9 labels and placards

For import into Sweden

  • Naturvårdsverket registration of the Swedish producer
  • Instructions and safety information in the language Sweden requires
  • Haulier in Sweden briefed with UN number, class 9 and tunnel code (E) for the road leg

Before you book

Match the details first

We line up UN numbers, model names and package counts across the Shenzhen filings, the booking with the carrier and the documents for Sweden before the booking is confirmed, so that a mismatch is fixed at origin rather than discovered at Stockholm.

Carriers we book with

Our booking panel; availability on this lane and acceptance of the declared UN numbers are confirmed for each booking. It does not mean that a listed carrier runs a direct service on this route. Carrier choice depends on the trade lane, cargo classification and each carrier's dangerous-goods acceptance at booking. The final carrier is confirmed on the booking.

Questions

Common questions on the Shenzhen → Stockholm route

The importer's: name, registered trade name or trade mark and postal address with a contact point, on the battery or, if it is too small, on the packaging or accompanying document.

Often, but it depends on the service. The Baltic is reached through the Danish straits, and we ask the carrier to name any transhipment port and confirm DG acceptance for each vessel.

Since September 2026 Dongguan Customs and Dongguan MSA share dangerous-goods packaging certificate data and act jointly against false declarations, so the packaging certificate and the MSA filing should match exactly.
