Lithium batteries for Larnaca go through Dayaowan, where Liaoning's first JT/T 1543 lithium export sailed in May 2025. On the way they face a Suez corridor that Mediterranean services are using again more than any other Asia–Europe lane, and they arrive at the port of Larnaca.

Dalian's MSA says misdeclared battery cargo is common
According to Dayaowan MSA in April 2024, lithium battery cargo was often under-declared or misdeclared because the rules are complicated. It responded with a dedicated desk and hotline, priority for EV batteries, and AI-based document comparison intended to reduce container openings, which means any mismatch between the declaration and its supporting papers gets flagged.
What Anxin does: We reconcile the UN number, classification, packing group, quantity and SDS across every document before filing, which is exactly what an automated comparison will test.

Spring fog season from April to July
The China Meteorological Administration describes sea fog as a major marine hazard in the Yellow and Bohai Seas, with the season mainly from April to July, seriously affecting sea transport. Fog holds keep vessels at anchor, and a late vessel can push the box past its documented sailing.
What Anxin does: In the fog season we avoid tight stuffing-to-cut-off gaps and keep the filing data ready to amend if the vessel changes.

The 43% of Mediterranean services not using the Red Sea sail round the Cape of Good Hope, then back through Gibraltar. SAMSA estimates about 200 of the 576 containers lost at sea in 2024 went overboard near the Cape, 35% of the year's total.
What Anxin does: On Cape sailings we apply the CINS blocking and bracing checks strictly on stuffing photos before sealing.

A producer registration in Cyprus before the first sale
The Battery Regulation makes registration national: whoever first makes batteries available in Cyprus must be entered in that Member State's producer register, and the authority has up to 12 weeks to grant a complete application. A brand based outside Cyprus cannot rely on an EU registration held elsewhere; it needs an authorised representative for producer responsibility in Cyprus.
What Anxin does: At booking we ask which company is the producer of record in Cyprus and for its registration number there, so a missing registration surfaces while the goods are still in Dalian rather than after discharge in Larnaca.

Substance limits for portable batteries
For portable batteries, Annex I sets maximum levels of 0.0005 % mercury, 0.002 % cadmium and 0.01 % lead by weight, the lead limit applying since 18 August 2024. The importer in Cyprus may be asked by market surveillance to demonstrate compliance.
What Anxin does: We ask the manufacturer for its substance declaration or test report reference and file it with the shipping documents for the Cyprus importer; we do not test batteries.

Questions about shipping from Dalian to Larnaca
The CE marking on the battery and the manufacturer's EU declaration of conformity, which must be available in the language Cyprus requires. Both have applied since 18 August 2024.
