From Lianyungang to A Coruna, cargo moves out of Lianyungang, crosses a lane whose routing, Suez or Cape of Good Hope, is decided service by service, and is discharged at the port of A Coruna.

Spain wants the producer on the RII-PYA register, with its number on the invoice. The 5 points below are particular to this lane; each comes with what we do and the paperwork it touches.

What we need to start

Route profile

The Lianyungang → A Coruna route in brief

Origin port

Lianyungang

Jiangsu's Yellow Sea port, with a simplified document list for 'new three' cargo since 2024 and its own guide for energy-storage units on break-bulk ships.

Sea corridor

Asia – North & Atlantic Europe

The map shows the Suez corridor, but in September 2026 most Asia–North Europe capacity still sails round the Cape of Good Hope.

Where this route gets difficult

What to watch between Lianyungang and A Coruna: 5 points

They run from the Lianyungang terminal through the voyage to A Coruna and the Spain import file.

  1. Origin port

A shorter document list at Lianyungang, not a shorter check

Lianyungang MSA's Notice No. 1 of 2024 cut the materials for 'new three' cargo to four on the cargo side: the safe-carriage declaration, the inspector-signed packing certificate, the packaging inspection certificate where packaged, and a power of attorney. Fewer papers means each one carries more weight; the packing certificate still has to be signed by a certified inspector after supervised stuffing.

What Anxin does: We prepare the four cargo-side documents together and check that the packing certificate, the packaging certificate and the declaration describe the same UN numbers and quantities.

  2. Sea corridor

Suez on the map, the Cape on most sailings

The corridor on this page is drawn through Bab-el-Mandeb and the Suez Canal. In practice, Sea-Intelligence data for September 2026 put Red Sea routing on the Asia–Europe head-haul at 13–25%: 27% for services to North Europe and 57% for Mediterranean services. Which service calls at A Coruna decides whether the box goes through Suez or round the Cape of Good Hope, and the two routings differ in length, in the waters crossed and in the ports where a box might be transhipped.

What Anxin does: We ask the carrier to state the routing and any transhipment port on the booking confirmation, and we quote the two routings separately when both are on offer rather than mixing them.

  3. Import country

RII-PYA registration, done by the SCRAP or by the producer

Spain's industry ministry keeps the battery register (RII-PYA). Every importer of batteries has to be registered and declared as a producer; a collective scheme may file for its members, otherwise the producer files online with an electronic signature or Cl@ve. The register number that comes back must be printed on the producer's invoices.

What Anxin does: We ask the Spanish importer for its RII-PYA number and whether its SCRAP filed the registration, then carry the number on the documents we prepare for A Coruna.

  4. Import country

Battery label from August 2026, QR code from February 2027

Two marking dates fall into current shipping plans for Spain: the general label from 18 August 2026 and the QR code from 18 February 2027, which for EV, LMT and larger industrial batteries has to open the battery passport.

What Anxin does: Before booking we ask the Spain importer to confirm the battery category and whether the label and QR-code elements are already on the goods, and compare carton photos with that answer.

  5. Import country

Mercury, cadmium and lead limits in portable batteries

Annex I of the Battery Regulation caps mercury at 0.0005 %, cadmium at 0.002 % and lead at 0.01 % by weight in portable batteries, and the lead limit has applied since 18 August 2024. Market surveillance in Spain can ask the importer to show that the goods meet these limits.

What Anxin does: We ask the manufacturer for its substance declaration or test report reference and file it with the shipping documents for the Spain importer; we do not test batteries.

Before you book

Match the details first

We line up UN numbers, model names and package counts across the Lianyungang filings, the booking with the carrier and the documents for Spain before the booking is confirmed, so that a mismatch is fixed at origin rather than discovered at A Coruna.

Carriers we book with

Our booking panel; availability on this lane and acceptance of the declared UN numbers are confirmed for each booking. It does not mean that a listed carrier runs a direct service on this route. Carrier choice depends on the trade lane, cargo classification and each carrier's dangerous-goods acceptance at booking. The final carrier is confirmed on the booking.

ADR, which the EU applies to domestic journeys through Directive 2008/68/EC. UN 3480 is class 9, transport category 2, with tunnel restriction code (E).

It depends on the service. In September 2026 most Asia–North Europe capacity still sailed round the Cape of Good Hope; Sea-Intelligence put the Red Sea share for North Europe vessels at 27%. We ask the carrier to confirm the routing on the booking and quote each routing separately.
