The corridor
The network itself is a target. Ukrzaliznytsia told investors that 209 locomotives and 371 freight cars were damaged in Russian attacks in 2025 and the first quarter of 2026, and that the attacks restricted freight transport across the country.7 The western road border has also stopped before: Polish truckers blockaded crossings including Dorohusk from November 2023 until an agreement in January 2024.8
Towards Odesa, Ukraine resumed ferry trips from Chornomorsk to Batumi in March 2025, the first since the invasion, and Ukrzaliznytsia said they ran in "information silence".9 We quote Ukrainian lanes once the cargo, the consignee, the carrier's acceptance and the insurance position are clear. Lithium batteries are subject to operator and country acceptance on every leg.
